Dispatch from the Boiler Room: May 14

Interns Janelle LaSalle and Moe Fernandez frame up a shot.

Last week we headed to the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network PubTalk event to capture footage of the startup founders presenting their business pitches. Interns Janelle LaSalle and Moe Fernandez got their first opportunity to get behind the camera, while Aaron McAdam continued his tutelage in all things audio under the guidance of producer Chris Higgins. This footage will later be combined with a sit-down interview to create some idea-driven entrepreneurial profiles that help to promote both the company and OEN’s role in the business community.

Aaron and Chris strategize about sound.

Speaking of Janelle, her music video project is really gaining traction, as she continues to develop her shot list with more nuanced thoughts about the use of framing and focal length as expressive elements. The clock is ticking, as this internship period is getting close to wrapping up!

In other client news, our new profile video of cardiologist Dr. Fawaz Alhumaid is complete, and once we get the final OK from our friends at Adventist Health it will be ready to premiere.

This week…

…is National Bike to Work Week. According to the League of American Bicyclists, 40% of all trips in the U.S. are less than two miles, so why not travel them in a way that’s better for you and the environment? Air up those tires, lube up your chain, and check out this link to see what’s going on in your city to celebrate human-powered locomotion.

Until next time…
